Aftermath

Awakened by Terror #2

by L.L. Brooks

I survived, physically. Leaving five bodies behind, I escaped the desert. With three more dead before it was over, Bell one of them, they were all dead. The other survivor didn’t matter. Bunny’s mind was gone. She’d never be able to tell what I’d done. I didn’t need any reminders of those days of terror, not of what I’d done, or the deaths I caused, not with the nightmares and blackouts in the aftermath.

Pratters, the only one who suspected the truth, used my fear of exposure against me. Months after I thought it was all over, he showed up with a brain damaged, crippled man. Dumping Michael on me, he told me I was the only one he could trust that those he worked with wouldn’t suspect. Making me the one to hide and help Michael, Pratters swore he’d altered records. No one would know where Michael had gone, both of us would be safe. None of the promises eased the new fears. What of Michael? Oh, my God, I wanted him. Did that make me the whore Bell called me?

The Rotation

by Michel Prince

Katie Gills knows how to compartmentalize. She has a plan in place and although she has physical needs, those can be met by a simple set of rules created, in her mind, to save her from the ultimate distraction. Love. Limiting herself to a single sexual partner could lead to attachment and that would be breaking rule number one. Instead Katie maintains a rotation of perfectly distant and secretive lovers.

Augustus ‘Tuck’ Tuckman hadn’t been on campus long enough to get the feel of the place. The junior transfer had played his way into a football scholarship and he was using it for its intended purpose. Get a degree and get out. Life came after a career was established.

The crash of a beautiful girl into Tuck’s arms had feelings sparking in all parts of his brain, but she had a wall in place that made a future questionable. Can he play the game by her rules and still win? Or will he need to show her every thing is legal between the whistles? Even love.

by Julie G. Murphy

A book that the Dowager Countess of Grantham would love.

To help her friend, the cherubic Baron’s son, Eleanor must defy family, society, even the man she loves. Louis may well have cracked under the pressure of his harsh, bullying father.

Willow Run

by Dorothy Stephens

When the “greatest generation” came home from World War II, many of the men returned to college on the GI Bill, a saga that has been the subject of numerous books and movies. But the story of their wives, also part of that greatest generation, has seldom been told.

Kate McIntosh, the young mother of a toddler and a newborn, struggles with the challenges of being isolated in barracks-like World War II housing in Willow Run Village, with no car, little money, and a mostly absent husband., Mark, her husband, attends classes at the university during the day and works on the assembly line at the nearby auto plant at night. He is rarely home. When she and Mark meet with other graduate students, Kate feels awkward and excluded, with nothing to talk about but diapers and pureed carrots.

Kate is determined to find ways to reach beyond the confines of her life. She befriends her rural Tennessee neighbors, teaching the illiterate mother and son to read; gets involved in the Adlai Stevenson presidential campaign; creates a garden in the weedy field behind their building; and finds new strength and talents she didn’t know she had. At the same time, she attempts to quell her rising anxiety about what might be going on between Mark and a fellow graduate student, Amanda. Things come to a head when Mark is seriously injured in an accident and Kate has new challenges to face.

Once there, he meets the fascinating and beautiful Liz O’Doul and discovers a strange crystal he mistakenly believes is merely a good luck charm. Liz tells him Miller Castle has a long and colourful history of strange creatures lurking about its stone walls, but Jon doesn't believe it...until Liz catches a dwarf named Gilbert trying to steal unmentionables from her suitcase. Jon pursues the creature up the steep staircases of the castle. But, just as he catches Gilbert, the two of them tumble out the window and through a magical gateway.

My Christmas Books – Melange Books and Satin Romance

Angel of Kindness

by Joanne Rawson

Megan Shepard was not looking forward to Christmas. Now divorced, all she had to look forward to was spending Christmas in Derbyshire, with her sixty four year old, bisexual, hippie mother, and a scrawny little sapling tree, overdressed with cheap decorations from the pound shop. However, her friends had other ideas, like taking her to Pinkie's Night Club, their old stomping ground as teenagers. This brought back memories of rah-rah skirts, fishnets, and legwarmers dancing to Madonna, until the DJ played The Power of Love, whereupon Richie King would take her hand and lead her to the dance floor.

Seeing Richie leaning against the bar in his unforgettable Danny Zucko pose, she knows the right thing to do would be to walk in the opposite direction, yet finds herself walking straight to him, and taking the advice of her unconventional mother. Swept off her feet to the winter wonderland of Manchester's Christmas Market, romantic walks in the snow of the Derbyshire Peak District, and fireside dinners, she has to wonder if Richie really changed, or has he something to hide?

Coming Home for Christmas
After her husband’s death, Sophie and her young daughter return to her family in Derbyshire. The Ferguson’s seem like a perfect family until you scratch the surface. With so many emotional baggage, and only nine weeks to Christmas, can Sophie bring them altogether for the perfect Christmas she dreams of?

Thomas, the gorgeous, moody decorator, is a man with his own agenda that doesn't seem to include Sophie. Even in his paint-smeared tee shirt, faded jeans and scuffed boots, he is immodestly masculine, handsome and sizzling hot. But when his eyes reflect the pain she knows so well, Sophie cannot help but wonder if there is another side to the cold exterior.

Thomas finds his heart opening to this beautiful, wounded woman from his past. A passion smoulders as they work together in the months before Christmas. But he has been hurt before and hesitates to stoke the fire between them.

Will the magic of the holidays heal a family and bring two lost souls together?
